The Consumer Protection Agency launched an extensive inspection campaign in Giza targeting major warehouses in Badrashin city that were found to be re-manufacturing mattresses using unknown materials and falsely labeling them with well-known brand names to mislead consumers. The campaign uncovered 1150 counterfeit mattresses, 1953 fake fabric labels bearing famous brand names, 4 rolls of plastic for mattress wrapping, and 20 iron mattress frames ready for manufacturing. The operation was conducted following complaints about the circulation of unknown source mattresses in the Egyptian market. The agency emphasized that such practices threaten consumer safety, violate laws, and harm the national economy. Ibrahim El-Segini, head of the agency, stated that these actions align with the Prime Minister’s directives to strengthen market discipline, combat commercial fraud, and protect consumer rights. The agency is committed to strict law enforcement and continuous monitoring to ensure market stability and fair competition.
