Russia has called on Israel to take urgent measures to prevent the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, according to a breaking news report from Cairo News Channel. The Russian Foreign Ministry described the UN assessments of the situation in Gaza as horrifying and demanded that the Security Council adopt a resolution to address the humanitarian disaster in the area. Meanwhile, Spain’s Foreign Minister commented on a letter from EU ambassadors, stating, “If we do not act collectively amid the famine in Gaza, when will we?” On another front, the Irish Broadcasting Authority reported that European officials condemned Israel’s plans to expand settlements in East Jerusalem and criticized Israel’s continued prevention of UNRWA from delivering aid to Gaza.
The message from European officials was driven by Israel’s initiation of plans to empty Gaza City of its residents, with 206 EU ambassadors and former officials calling on the Union to take strict measures against Israel.
