The Iranian Foreign Ministry called on regional countries to strengthen their military capabilities to confront what it described as Israel’s greed, in response to a question about disarming Hezbollah. Additionally, Iran expressed concern over the activation of the UN snapback sanctions mechanism ahead of nuclear talks with France, Britain, and Germany in Geneva. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baqaei, stated that Iran does not need anyone’s approval regarding uranium enrichment, as Article 4 of the Non-Proliferation Treaty guarantees this right to all countries. He emphasized that the perception of Iran’s weakness and the West’s position of strength in negotiations is an illusion. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi mentioned last Wednesday that Iran might eventually withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and change its defense doctrine.
