In 2023, the German army recorded 280 cases of right-wing extremism, with 90 soldiers dismissed due to these incidents and procedures initiated against six others. The cases include performing the Hitler salute, chanting racist slogans, and making anti-Semitic statements. The number represents a significant increase from 205 cases the previous year. Deputy Zada Salehovich described the rising figures as concerning, emphasizing that every case of extremism is one too many and must not be tolerated, despite being few compared to the total army personnel.
