American doctor Mimi Sid, director of the emergency department at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Washington state, revealed horrifying details about the Israeli double strike targeting Nasser Hospital in Gaza. She told CNN that the targeting was a “strategic and deliberate” act, rejecting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s description of the attack as a “tragic accident.” Sid noted that WHO staff and healthcare workers were prevented from entering Gaza for a good reason and that the attack was planned. Foreign aid workers and doctors already at the hospital were asked to leave before the airstrike. She described the double attack as a war crime and condemned Israel for violating every international law so far, calling it a stain on humanity. Foreign doctors at Nasser Hospital were arbitrarily ordered to leave and were not allowed to return until the next day.
Sid criticized Israel’s repeated claims that such attacks are accidents, citing previous incidents where medics were killed and ambulances shot at. Several Western and Arab countries and UN organizations expressed outrage over the Israeli airstrikes on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, which killed 20 people including five journalists. Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s targeting of the complex, which resulted in civilian, medical, and journalistic casualties, calling it part of a long series of blatant violations of international humanitarian law. Egypt demanded the UN Security Council and the international community take responsibility to end this dangerous approach and intervene effectively to stop the Israeli war on Gaza.
