US envoy Tom Barak from Baabda stated: “President Trump wants to see a prosperous Lebanon and disarmament, and the three presidents are trying to do their best for prosperity, so why is Hezbollah armed?” He added: “On August 31, the government and the army will present a plan; we are not talking about war but about convincing Hezbollah to disarm.” He continued: “Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara has no interest in hostile relations with Lebanon and wants cooperative relations.” He said: “We will bring Gulf countries to contribute to the southern economic zone and also remove Israeli concerns.
The peace agreement with Israel is the path to prosperity and peace.” He added: “I feel hopeful because your government has done something amazing and took the step to ask the army to prepare a plan to disarm Hezbollah, which will be presented to us, and Israel says it is pleased to withdraw from Lebanon and does not want to occupy Lebanon.” Barak confirmed: “We will extend the UNIFIL forces for one year.” Meanwhile, US envoy Morgan Ortagus said: “Israel is ready to move step by step with the decisions of the Lebanese government, and we will help the government proceed with the historic decision and encourage Israel to take its steps.”
