Official data on Monday reported the martyrdom of 58 Palestinians and the displacement of 47,000 due to the ongoing Israeli aggression for more than 200 days in the northern occupied West Bank. Since January 21, 2024, the Israeli army has continued a military operation starting in Jenin city and its camp, later expanding to the camps of Tulkarm and Nur Shams. The Palestinian News Agency WAFA quoted the Refugee Affairs Department of the PLO stating that the continuous Israeli aggression on Jenin and Tulkarm resulted in 58 martyrs, hundreds wounded, and widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. In Jenin alone, 44 martyrs including children were recorded, with forced displacement of 22,000 from the camp and its surroundings, and 25% of the city’s population displaced. The number of detainees rose to 250, and 2,000 students were deprived of education.
The Jenin camp witnessed the demolition of more than 650 buildings, leading to near-total collapse of infrastructure and the creation of a new geographic reality with disconnected neighborhoods and new roads. In Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, 14 martyrs including a child and two women (one eight months pregnant) were reported, with over 600 homes completely destroyed and 2,573 partially damaged. More than 48 buildings were demolished in Nur Shams alone, with roads cut through the camp causing wide urban destruction. Approximately 300 shops were destroyed, and over 25,000 people displaced. Since October 7, 2023, alongside the genocidal war in Gaza, Israeli forces and settlers have escalated attacks in the West Bank including East Jerusalem, killing at least 1,016 Palestinians, injuring about 7,000, and arresting over 18,500. In Gaza, supported by the US, Israel has committed genocide resulting in 62,744 Palestinian martyrs, 158,259 injured, mostly women and children, over 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine causing 300 deaths including 117 children.
