The Israeli army launched a series of intense airstrikes early Tuesday on various areas of the Gaza Strip, focusing on Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, resulting in numerous casualties including women and children. Local sources reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a residential apartment on Al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City, killing a woman and her infant daughter and injuring others. Another house in the Al-Shati area west of the city was also hit. Concurrently, heavy fire from warplanes led to several deaths and injuries being transferred to Gaza hospitals. In eastern Gaza, air and artillery strikes targeted a residential building in the Sabra neighborhood, killing at least seven Palestinians, with some still missing under the rubble. In the northern Gaza Strip, Israeli forces continued demolishing buildings in Jabalia alongside ongoing air and artillery strikes in central and southern areas.
Earlier reports indicated that the death toll in Gaza rose to 100 over the past 24 hours due to continuous Israeli strikes across the Strip. Medical sources confirmed 92 Palestinians killed recently, including six journalists who died when a building inside the Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza was targeted. The United Nations emphasized on Monday the absolute necessity not to target journalists and hospitals after an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital killed at least 20 people, including five journalists. Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated, “The killing of journalists in Gaza should shock the world, not silence it but prompt action demanding accountability and justice,” stressing that “journalists are not targets, and hospitals are not targets” in any war.
This stance comes amid growing international condemnation of attacks targeting medical facilities in Gaza, with international organizations warning that continued targeting of hospitals exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and threatens the collapse of the health system in the Strip. Israel continues to target sites where civilians gather awaiting humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, sea water flooded tents of displaced persons spread along the Khan Yunis beach, worsening their humanitarian suffering amid the ongoing war. Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling have targeted wide areas of the Gaza Strip since morning, including a tent sheltering displaced persons in Khan Yunis refugee camps, killing dozens.
