South Korean President Lee Jae-myung warned that North Korea is developing its capabilities to produce between 10 and 20 nuclear warheads per year. He made these remarks during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. Lee stated that Pyongyang has developed an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States and continues to enhance its nuclear production capacity. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, North Korea’s nuclear arsenal is estimated at fifty warheads, with enough fissile material to produce up to 40 more. Lee called for reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and highlighted that despite deterrence efforts and sanctions, North Korea’s nuclear weapons stockpile has increased over the past three to four years.
