The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced the development of preliminary data for the production index of manufacturing and extractive industries for June. The data showed that the leather and leather products industry index reached 46.15 in June compared to 41.68 in May, a 10.72% increase due to higher supply and demand. The index for computers, electronic, optical products, and medical devices rose to 174.46 in June from 125.11 in May, a 39.45% increase for the same reasons. Conversely, the wood and cork products industry index (excluding furniture) dropped to 32.55 in June from 34.59 in May, a 5.90% decrease due to lower supply and demand. The textiles industry index also declined to 153.37 in June from 163.23 in May, a 6.04% decrease. Overall, the agency updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 according to the industrial activity guide (ISIC Rev.4) and the monthly producer price index since January 2020.
