US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held phone calls on Monday with foreign ministers from Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine as part of the alliance’s efforts to find potential security guarantees for Ukraine. According to a statement from the US State Department, Rubio and his counterparts agreed to continue diplomatic cooperation to end the Russia-Ukraine war through a lasting negotiated settlement. Rubio, as reported by CNN, spoke with European national security advisors and confirmed that the United States will participate in security guarantees for Ukraine after the war, although the Trump administration believes Europe should take the lead.
