The frontlines between the Syrian Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) witnessed a notable escalation last week. On the night between Monday and Tuesday, the SDF targeted a Syrian Army position on the outskirts of Deir Ezzor city using a drone. The Syrian news agency reported that a soldier was injured due to the attack. Additionally, military reinforcements were deployed to areas east of Aleppo and the eastern countryside of Raqqa. Factions known as ‘Sultan Suleiman Shah’ (Al-Amshat) and ‘Hamza Division’ sent reinforcements to the contact lines stretching from Deir Hafer east of Aleppo to the town of Akirish in eastern Raqqa countryside, with widespread deployment of armored vehicles and medium to heavy weapons along the road connecting the two provinces.

Although an agreement was signed between the Syrian transitional president Ahmad Al-Shar and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi to integrate the SDF forces into the Syrian state, it has not been implemented due to disagreements between the parties.
