The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, launched ‘Prevention Clubs’ in 10 Egyptian governorates. These clubs, located within youth centers, aim to enhance prevention and protection methods among youth, children, and families frequenting these centers. The initiative included a training camp for volunteers focusing on teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and awareness programs about the dangers of drug abuse, especially synthetic drugs and their links to violence and crime. The clubs seek to build a conscious and resilient generation capable of protecting themselves and their communities from behavioral and health risks related to drug use. Over 1600 youth centers are served in the first phase, with trained youth leaders coordinating prevention initiatives. The Egyptian experience has been recognized regionally and internationally as a model for addiction prevention.
