His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Foreign Minister, participated today in the 21st extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister delivered a speech emphasizing that this extraordinary meeting reflects the solidarity of member states and their support for the Palestinian brothers who are subjected to the worst practices of occupation, including killing, starvation, displacement, and genocide by the Israeli occupation authorities. He stressed the necessity of confronting this threat by unifying the positions of the OIC member states and developing mechanisms for cooperation and joint coordination among Islamic countries.
He stated, “The international community must immediately put an end to the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces and firmly reject the occupation authority’s declaration of its intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip. It is essential to firmly confront plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land.” He underscored the importance of taking all steps and measures to break the siege and deliver relief and humanitarian aid in full cooperation with international mechanisms, demanding the occupation forces open all crossings and allow urgent and sufficient passage of aid without any obstacles.
The Foreign Minister called for providing support to UNRWA and UN agencies operating in the occupied Palestinian territories and urged the international community to unite efforts to support the Palestinian people in building their capacities and empowering their national institutions by supporting the Palestinian National Authority and its reform steps.
He expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation and denunciation of recent Israeli statements regarding the so-called “Greater Israel Vision,” its total rejection of the settlement and expansionist projects adopted by the Israeli occupation authorities, and affirmed the historic right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state. He also emphasized efforts to build broad international consensus to support the Palestinian people’s rights to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, supporting Egyptian and Qatari efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and expedite humanitarian aid flow, confirming the continuation of efforts by the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee emanating from the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summits held in Riyadh to communicate with all influential countries worldwide.
He noted the Kingdom’s welcome of the growing international consensus supporting the implementation of the two-state solution, especially within the efforts of the international coalition and the international conference supporting the establishment of the Palestinian state co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. He said, “The number of countries recognizing Palestine has increased to include most Asian and African countries, as well as countries in Europe, America, and Oceania, confirming that Israeli violations are rejected by the overwhelming majority of the international community. Countries still hesitant to condemn Israeli violations and hold perpetrators accountable should realize that the facts of Israeli occupation and expansionist policies are no longer hidden from anyone.”
In conclusion, the Foreign Minister stressed that the continuation of Israeli violations without accountability or punishment undermines the international system and international law, destroys opportunities for cooperation and legitimacy, and expands the circle of conflict and instability, threatening security and peace not only in the region but worldwide.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary for Multilateral International Affairs and General Supervisor of the Public Diplomacy Agency Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Rassi, the Foreign Minister’s Political Affairs Advisor Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, and the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the OIC Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani.
