The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, including the recent massacre at the Nasser Medical Complex which resulted in the death of 20 people, including 5 journalists. The spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, stated that this recent massacre is just one episode in a continuous series of deliberate attacks targeting civilians. He noted that Israel has assassinated more than 12 journalists in the past two weeks alone, with hundreds killed since the war began. Aboul Gheit called on the international community to break the shameful global silence over the unprecedented atrocities and crimes committed daily with cold blood and without punishment or any opposing voice saying ‘enough to this ongoing massacre.’ He warned that the world’s inability to act means accepting the daily deaths of dozens of innocent people in Gaza as normal, which is a major crime.

He highlighted that the last 24 hours alone saw 11 deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the Strip. The Secretary-General emphasized that raising voices against these disgraceful atrocities cannot be accused of anti-Semitism, affirming that criticizing Zionist and Israeli practices is not hatred of Jews or anti-Semitism. He accused Israel of using this ready accusation to silence all free voices that scream in criticism of practices hostile to humanity and civilization. The humanitarian crisis is escalating unprecedentedly amid continued Israeli military escalation in Gaza, with civilians suffering from intensive air raids targeting residential areas and vital facilities, including hospitals and media centers. The crisis is further aggravated by widespread famine and malnutrition due to the imposed siege and prevention of humanitarian aid from reaching the Strip.
