Moroccan customs revenues recorded a new record of approximately 144.8 billion dirhams last year, marking a 9.2% increase compared to 2023. The Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration reduced the customs clearance time at import to about one hour and twenty-six minutes, enabling 64% of customs declarations to be cleared in less than four hours. The annual report revealed operational improvements despite a 7.1% rise in the number of declarations, surpassing two million for the first time. Various control measures collected an additional 6.24 billion dirhams, a 36% increase from the previous year. The administration also seized around 34 million dirhams from evaded duties, enhanced fraud detection through advanced data analysis, and conducted 64 sectoral studies leading to 336 value estimate revisions. Digitalization of passenger controls processed over 13,000 confirmed cases, with travelers paying substantial duties and fines. Efforts to monitor currency movement and prevent money laundering were intensified, resulting in the seizure of 167 million dirhams in currency.
The administration improved risk targeting and cooperation with intelligence services, registering over 15,500 currency declarations at border offices in 2024, totaling more than 2.5 billion dirhams.
