Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem affirmed that Lebanon needs to restore its sovereignty over its land, noting that all the problems Lebanon faces stem from the enemy, occupation, and American support. He emphasized that the government today is responsible for devising a plan to achieve sovereignty, stating that there is no stability or renaissance without sovereignty. Qassem called on the government to hold intensive sessions to discuss how to restore sovereignty through diplomacy, arming the army, defense strategy, and all helpful means. He also urged parties and elites to assist the government in thinking and proposing ideas.

Addressing parties, forces, and elites, he said, “Dedicate this week to submitting proposals to the government demanding sovereignty.” Concurrently, Qassem considered the government’s decision to disarm as unconstitutional and taken under Israeli and American pressures, saying, “If the government continues with this decision, it is not trustworthy with Lebanon and retreating is a virtue.” He added, “Israel will not be able to remain in Lebanon, and without the resistance, Israel would have reached the capital Beirut.”
