During their 21st extraordinary session in Jeddah on August 25, 2025, the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, holding Israel fully responsible for massacres and violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza. The ministers rejected Israel’s plans to impose full military control over Gaza or forcibly displace its population, considering these acts as entrenching illegal occupation and threatening regional and international security. They stressed that the crimes committed, including genocide, starvation, siege, and settlement expansion, amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, calling for accountability before the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.

The meeting demanded an immediate halt to the aggression and lifting of the blockade on Gaza, opening crossings to allow the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, and ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid access, supporting the role of UNRWA and other UN organizations. The ministers also supported the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a prisoner exchange agreement and a ceasefire, preparing the ground for the reconstruction conference in Cairo.

They reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. They condemned recent Israeli statements about the so-called “Greater Israel,” settlement plans, repeated attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites, and called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop the aggression and end the occupation.

The statement welcomed the recognition or announced intention to recognize the State of Palestine by several countries in the coming September, considering it a fundamental support for Palestinian rights. It also praised Arab, Islamic, and international efforts in the UN Security Council, especially by Algeria and Pakistan, to defend the Palestinian cause and called for continued diplomatic and legal pressure to stop the war and hold the occupation accountable.
