Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, held bilateral talks with Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah. The two ministers valued the historic and fraternal ties between Egypt and Algeria and their joint keenness to elevate bilateral relations across various fields, especially in developmental and economic sectors, building on the visit of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Cairo in October 2024. They expressed hope to hold the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Supreme Committee soon to enhance cooperation frameworks and achieve a qualitative leap in infrastructure, new urban communities, and developmental expertise exchange.

Regarding developments in Gaza, Minister Abdel Aati reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement ensuring the release of hostages and prisoners and facilitating humanitarian aid access, affirming Egypt’s firm commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The ministers also reviewed regional developments, foremost the Libyan file, stressing the importance of supporting the Libyan-Libyan political track to preserve Libya’s unity and sovereignty, and the withdrawal of all mercenaries and foreign forces, considering this the only way to achieve security and stability. They also emphasized the necessity to continue activating the tripartite mechanism of Libya’s neighboring countries, including Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, to ensure coordination and follow-up efforts.
