Media professionals and experts told Okaz that some university majors continue to graduate students despite being rejected by the Saudi job market due to declining employment opportunities. They emphasized the urgent need for universities to update their programs by reducing admissions in these majors and focusing on modern technological fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, renewable energy, environmental engineering, digital transformation, and manufacturing technology. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and create a more vibrant and diverse labor market. The experts stressed that universities must lead in transformation and update curricula to meet future labor market demands and avoid wasting resources on outdated fields.
