The Ministry of Health and Population has activated the Telemedicine initiative in 10 central hospitals in Al-Sharqia Governorate to enhance digital transformation in health services. Dr. Bahaa Abu Shaisha, Deputy Director of the Health Affairs Directorate in Al-Sharqia, stated that the directorate uses the latest technology and has implemented telemedicine in 10 central hospitals to facilitate patient care. This is part of the directorate’s plan to support hospitals with modern technologies to provide specialized diagnostic services, especially in areas of need. The first remote examination session was conducted for ICU patients with the presence of specialized doctors and a trained team using electronic platforms coordinated with the ministry.

Dr. Iman Ali, Director of Training at the directorate, added that this operation is a new step in enhancing medical services, allowing peripheral hospitals to communicate with top medical professors at university hospitals and specialized medical centers through diagnostic sessions that ensure accuracy and speed in medical decision-making, reducing the need for patient transfers.

Dr. Hani Gomaa, Deputy Minister of Health in Al-Sharqia, confirmed that the directorate continues to activate the initiative in other hospitals, with the tenth unit being activated at Belbeis Central Hospital as part of the second phase of the telemedicine initiative. The first phase started earlier in eight hospitals: Al-Husseiniya Central, Zagazig General, Deirb Negm, Faqous, Abu Kabir, Mashtoul El Souq, New Salhia, and Al-Ibrahimiya Central. This is in cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Al-Sharqia.
