Keith Kellogg, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump for Ukraine and Russia, stated in Kyiv on Monday that officials are working tirelessly to end the three-year war between Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized hopes to reach a position soon that includes security guarantees addressing Ukraine’s concerns about future conflicts with Russia. Kellogg described these potential security guarantees as ‘work in progress’ following his participation in Ukraine’s annual national prayer breakfast alongside politicians, business leaders, and diplomats. A week earlier, Trump announced arrangements to hold direct peace talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, Russian officials indicated such a summit is unlikely soon. Trump said last Friday he expects to decide on next steps within two weeks unless a direct talks program is established. The recent influx of high-profile visitors to Kyiv reflects ongoing concerns surrounding the US-led peace initiative.
