Former U.S. President Donald Trump called on regulatory authorities to revoke the broadcasting licenses of ABC and NBC due to their allegedly unbalanced reports. On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that despite his high popularity, these two networks publish “97% of the bad stories” about him and broadcast unfair reports about Republicans. He argued that many people believe the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which regulates communications in the country, should revoke the licenses of these channels. Trump added, “I would fully support that because they are unfair and dishonest, representing a real threat to our democracy.” He also suggested that these broadcast networks, which he described as sources of “fake news,” should effectively pay millions of dollars annually as licensing fees for having the privilege to use the best broadcasting types anywhere and anytime.
It is noted that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Republican, was appointed by Trump shortly after his election in November. Trump accuses ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN news channels of being major Democratic mouthpieces and distorting his reputation and conservative policies.
