U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order today to prosecute suspects who violate the sanctity of the American flag, including burning it, according to exclusive information from Fox News. The order states that the American flag is the most sacred and cherished symbol of the United States, and desecration is inherently offensive and provocative, used by foreign nationals to intimidate Americans and threaten violence.
Berlin Zoo celebrated the first anniversary of the birth of giant panda twins by offering frozen vegetables and a candle made from bamboo shoots. The cubs were born on August 22 last year and were given both Chinese and German names: Meng Hao and Meng Tian, also known as Leni and Lotti, honoring Berlin citizen Marlene Dietrich and the Charlottenburg district.
The panda cubs, which weighed less than 200 grams at birth, now weigh about 21 kilograms. Their keepers have already noticed personality differences.
New York and North Carolina have begun reopening beaches that were closed due to Hurricane Irene, which brought strong winds and dangerous waves along the U.S. East Coast. Irene’s outer bands touched North Carolina, but the storm did not make landfall or cause widespread infrastructure damage. After moving north in the Atlantic, it weakened to a post-tropical cyclone on Friday, away from land.
