The Hebrew site ‘Walla’ reported on Monday that the Houthis have succeeded in imposing a war of attrition on Israel by setting conditions: ‘As long as the Gaza Strip is bombed, rockets and drones will be launched,’ with control over the pace and scope of the launches. Every attack by the Israeli army on Houthi targets in Yemen was expected by the military establishment to be decisive and shift the balance of power against the Houthis, but these estimates proved to be below reality. Over time and with increased launches, the Israeli army realized the need for something else, leading the United States to intervene against the Houthis.
However, when the White House realized that the costs and damages outweighed the benefits, the world’s leading power resorted to negotiations, resulting in a ceasefire agreement, leaving Israel alone to deal with the Houthis except for missile defense support, according to the Palestinian Ma’an Agency. ‘Walla’ confirmed that Israeli attempts to strike the Houthis’ supply chains in Yemen failed, as the Houthis found alternative solutions to transport raw materials, production facilities, and technologies. Additionally, Israeli operations to destroy ports did not weaken the Houthis’ motivation to continue producing rockets.
