The Saudi team is participating in the 20th edition of the International Standards Olympiad (ISO 2025), hosted by Incheon, South Korea, from August 12 to 14, 2025, with 40 teams from various countries worldwide. The Olympiad is an annual international competition dedicated to middle and high school students, hosted by South Korea since 2006, aiming to raise awareness about standards, measurements, and quality, and encouraging students to exchange new ideas about standards and technology. Saudi Arabia is represented in this edition by four student teams from middle and high school levels, prepared and nominated through intensive training and qualifying programs, within a strategic partnership between the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba”, the Ministry of Education, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization.
The middle school girls’ team includes Mayan Zuhair Khan from Makkah region education, Wijd Ihab Hasouba from Madinah region education, and Yaman Ayman Al-Zahr from Asir region education. The high school girls’ team consists of Salaf Ahmed Al-Ruqaybah from Qassim region education, Areeb Nawaf Al-Otaibi from Madinah region education, and Fatima Saleh Al-Bin Saleh from the Eastern region education. The middle school boys’ team includes Ali Mahdi Al-Ajjaj and Fawaz Khalid Al-Qahtani from the Eastern region education, and Talal Misfer Al-Qahtani from Riyadh region education. The high school boys’ team includes Khaled Mohammed Al-Zahrani from the Eastern region education, Ayedh Murei Al-Qahtani from Asir region education, and Faisal Turki Al-Mulaibari from Makkah region education. Saudi Arabia’s participation in this edition continues its debut in 2024, where it won a bronze medal and a certificate of appreciation, reflecting the promising capabilities of Saudi students in standards, measurements, and quality fields.
This participation also embodies the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to spreading the culture of quality and standards among the youth, within an ambitious national vision aiming to build a knowledgeable and capable generation in the field of standards. The Olympiad competition mechanism includes a series of preliminary rounds leading to the final competition, where participants are assigned tasks designed to stimulate their knowledge and skills in the world of standards, within an interactive international environment encouraging innovation and teamwork.
