US President Donald Trump announced he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska to negotiate ending the war in Ukraine. Trump proposed a land exchange agreement, while Ukrainian President Zelensky rejected ceding territory. The Kremlin confirmed plans for the summit to focus on long-term peaceful solutions to the Ukrainian crisis. Ukraine showed willingness to be flexible but refuses to lose about one-fifth of its land. Poland, a close ally of Ukraine, sees a ceasefire as possibly imminent.
