The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has launched a flexible mechanism that allows users in the UAE to have full control over receiving or blocking marketing SMS messages through the main service providers: Etisalat, Du, and Virgin Mobile.

This mechanism is part of TDRA’s ongoing efforts to protect subscriber privacy and regulate marketing content in cooperation with service providers, aiming to enhance user experience and provide effective tools to control the type of messages received, whether from specific senders or particular commercial sectors.

Users can now easily block or unblock marketing messages by sending an SMS to the unified number 7726, with specific commands for each provider and options to block or unblock messages from certain sectors or specific senders.

The service is designed to give users full flexibility in managing incoming marketing messages, reducing digital nuisance, and enhancing smart communication experiences in the UAE. TDRA encourages users to utilize these tools and contact service providers if they continue to receive unwanted messages after activating the block.

Marketing messages must be sent with prior consent, during permitted hours (7 AM to 9 PM UAE time), and must include a free and effective opt-out mechanism allowing recipients to stop receiving future marketing messages.
