Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Monday that Russia is preparing its forces for new attacks instead of preparing to end the war in Ukraine. Zelensky received diplomatic support from Europe and NATO amid concerns that the US and Russian presidents might impose conditions to end the three-and-a-half-year conflict during their summit in Alaska on Friday. In his evening speech, Zelensky said, “Today a report was issued by the intelligence and military leadership about what Putin is relying on and what he is actually preparing, specifically military preparations. He is definitely not preparing for a ceasefire and the end of the war.” He added without giving details that Russia is moving its forces for new operations on Ukrainian territory.

He also said, “There is no sign that the Russians have received signals to prepare for a post-war phase.” Reuters quoted the Ukrainian army spokesman in the southern front sector, Vladyslav Voloshyn, saying Russia is moving some of its units in the Zaporizhzhia area to launch further attacks. Earlier on Monday, Zelensky warned that making any concessions to Russia would not convince it to stop fighting in Ukraine and said there is a need to increase pressure on the Kremlin. He wrote on X: “Russia refuses to stop the killings, so it should not receive any rewards or benefits… Concessions do not convince a killer.”
