Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Qatar and Egypt have received Hamas’s response to the ceasefire proposal in Gaza, which includes a path to a permanent ceasefire. He noted that His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is in contact with the US envoy and that the atmosphere is positive.
The spokesperson added in the weekly media briefing on Tuesday that they are still awaiting the Israeli response to Hamas’s approval of the ceasefire proposal. There is no set timeframe for the response, but they heard that Israel is considering the matter and hope for a quick and positive reply.
He said the proposal approved by Hamas largely matches what Israel had previously agreed to, noting that there are no real guarantees on the ground except the commitment of both parties to implement the agreement.
He expressed hope for reaching an agreement regarding Gaza, and if achieved, it should be implemented immediately, emphasizing that the goal is to reach a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible. He added that they are keen on stopping the fire by any means and within this framework, they push to reach a full agreement.
