A phone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptians Abroad, and Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, as part of ongoing consultations and coordination between the two brotherly countries. Minister Abdel Aati began the call by expressing sincere condolences to the Algerian government and people for a bus accident in Algiers that resulted in deaths and injuries, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured and affirming Egypt’s full solidarity with Algeria in this painful loss. The two ministers reviewed the paths of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development, expressing satisfaction with the momentum in Egyptian-Algerian relations recently and agreeing to continue working to develop cooperation in various fields.

They emphasized mutual keenness to invest the current momentum to advance political, economic, and developmental cooperation and explore new horizons to strengthen partnership and meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for development and stability. The call also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, where the ministers confirmed their firm stance rejecting the Israeli cabinet’s decision to expand the scope of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, considering it an escalatory step aimed at consolidating the illegal occupation of Palestinian lands and the ongoing systematic extermination against the defenseless Palestinian people, flagrantly violating international law and humanitarian law, and undermining the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and establishing their independent state. Minister Badr Abdel Aati reviewed Egypt’s comprehensive efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement to release hostages and prisoners, stop the Palestinian bloodshed, and ensure the full and unrestricted access of humanitarian aid.

Both sides agreed on the necessity of an immediate comprehensive ceasefire, ensuring urgent and unconditional flow of relief and medical aid, and stopping the policy of starvation and systematic killing that only exacerbates the conflict and fuels extremism and violence. They stressed the importance of providing full protection for civilians. In this context, the ministers reaffirmed their absolute rejection of Israeli settlement policies and illegal expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories, considering them a grave violation of international law and undermining all efforts aimed at achieving just and comprehensive peace. The ministers also exchanged assessments regarding regional situations of common interest, especially the situation in Libya, where Minister Abdel Aati emphasized the importance of respecting Libyan sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and supporting UN efforts and the Libyan-Libyan track to reach a comprehensive political settlement ensuring the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries and dismantling militias.

In the same context, the call addressed the trilateral neighbors mechanism between Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, confirming the continuation of activating the committee, ensuring regular meetings, enhancing coordination between contact points, and preparing for the next ministerial meeting.
