Today, Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met at his office in the new administrative capital with Suresh K. Reddy, the Ambassador of India to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in tourism and antiquities.

This meeting is part of the minister’s meetings with ambassadors of various countries to deepen bilateral relations and enhance frameworks of joint cooperation between Egypt and these countries on both tourism and archaeological levels.

During the meeting, the minister welcomed the ambassador and his delegation, appreciating the strong relations between the two countries in various fields, expressing his hope to open broader horizons for cooperation in tourism and antiquities, especially given the growing tourist movement from India to Egypt, which achieved a growth rate of 18.8% during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

The meeting included exchanging visions and ideas on several topics of common interest, discussing mechanisms for promoting tourism to Egypt in India and vice versa through organizing joint professional workshops between tour operators and travel agents working in the Indian market and their counterparts in Egypt, contributing to encouraging bilateral tourism and introducing the many diverse tourism products and patterns in Egypt to attract different segments of tourists from the Indian market.

They also discussed the importance of meeting the tourism requirements of Indian tourists, who pay special attention to cultural and recreational tourism, as well as their growing interest in wedding tourism, which is considered one of the promising tourism products in Egypt.

The meeting also touched on the possibility of implementing joint promotional campaigns and organizing roadshows in several Indian cities to introduce the Egyptian tourist destination and its unique experiences, in addition to organizing familiarization trips for Bollywood celebrities and Indian social media influencers, which helps highlight Egypt’s unique tourism features. The importance of active participation in tourism exhibitions held in India to enhance Egypt’s presence in this promising market was also emphasized.
