Fourteen civilians were killed while trying to leave the city of El Fasher towards the Tawila area west of the city, amid a siege and hunger imposed by the Rapid Support Forces. The siege has led to the collapse of health services and the spread of cholera, which has claimed 305 lives in Darfur. More than 7,000 cases of cholera infections have been reported since June 2024. South Kordofan faces a dual siege by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu and the Rapid Support Forces, causing severe shortages of food, medicine, electricity, and water in Kadugli and Deleng. The United Nations recently warned that 17 Sudanese areas, including parts of Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, Khartoum, and Al Jazira, are at risk of famine.
Sudan’s Prime Minister, Kamel Idris, is expected to hold an important meeting in Port Sudan to address the rising prices of the US dollar and foreign currencies and discuss financial measures.
