At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed Dr. Mohammad Mustafa and his accompanying delegation to their second home, Egypt, requesting to convey the greetings of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his brother President Mahmoud Abbas.
Dr. Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue and its solidarity, both leadership and people, with the Palestinian brothers in their ordeal, emphasizing the provision of all necessary support to end the war on the Gaza Strip and ensure the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights, especially the right to self-determination through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also stressed the total rejection of any attempts or plans aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land, creating a new reality unlivable for them, and liquidating the Palestinian cause, as well as the complete rejection of the continuation of house demolitions and settlement expansion in various Palestinian territories.
The Prime Minister confirmed Egypt’s continued provision of all necessary support to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, which operates around the clock, as well as Egypt’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the entry of more humanitarian aid to the Palestinian brothers.
Dr. Madbouly also confirmed Egypt’s intensive efforts in many international forums and mediation with both Qatar and the United States, aiming to return to a ceasefire, end the war, allow more sustainable humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and hold the Cairo conference for early recovery and reconstruction.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized Egypt’s firm position on the necessity of respecting international legitimacy resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue and Egypt’s commitment to the unity of Palestinian territories in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip under the leadership of the Palestinian Authority.
He pointed out the importance Egypt attaches to implementing the outcomes of the peace settlement conference and the two-state solution held in New York under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia and France on July 28, considering it a step in the right direction to save the two-state solution and set a specific timeframe for recognizing the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, alongside the expanding recognition of the Palestinian state.
The Prime Minister confirmed the continuation of coordination and cooperation efforts between the Egyptian and Palestinian sides regarding the details of holding the Cairo conference for early recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, which Egypt intends to host after the ceasefire.
For his part, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, Palestinian Prime Minister, praised Egypt’s supportive stance towards the Palestinian people led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during this critical phase of the Palestinian cause, affirming that the Palestinian people will remember this position, as will future generations. He noted that without Egypt’s firm and opposing stance to displacement, the Palestinian cause would not be discussed today.
The Palestinian Prime Minister also confirmed that the Arab-Islamic plan asserts that reconstruction can be done without displacing the Palestinian people, expressing strong support for the Egyptian leadership and urging disregard for voices opposing Egypt’s role regarding the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa stated that current challenges necessitate more coordination and consultation regarding the Palestinian issue, thanking all Egyptian state institutions for their great efforts in supporting the Gaza Strip, especially the distinguished role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in preparing and mobilizing participation in the two-state solution conference recently held in New York. He expressed reliance on Egypt’s continued role in supporting the Palestinian people.
Simultaneously, the Palestinian Prime Minister discussed communications with several donor countries preparing for the reconstruction phase in the Gaza Strip, confirming work on all aspects related to reconstruction, including plans, funding, and implementation methods.
Meanwhile, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the level of coordination between the two sides at various levels, especially regarding preparations for the early recovery and reconstruction conference in Gaza following the ceasefire.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of coordination between the two sides and international donor entities that will play a significant role in early recovery and reconstruction, clarifying that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue coordinating with the Palestinian side regarding arrangements for the conference, particularly regarding timing and sessions, stressing the importance of adhering to the political horizon for resolving the Palestinian issue represented by the two-state solution.
