Naji El-Shebaby, leader of the Democratic Generation Party, revealed the party’s preparations to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives elections, confirming the party’s ambition to present a candidate in every electoral district nationwide. El-Shebaby explained in televised statements the precise criteria the party uses to select its candidates, noting that a preliminary base of 84 candidates has already been qualified.
El-Shebaby confirmed during a phone interview on Extra News channel that candidate selection begins with full adherence to constitutional and legal conditions, such as holding at least a secondary education certificate, good conduct, and completion of military service.
He added that the party did not stop there but worked on qualifying its cadres by holding 13 specialized training courses, resulting in a strong base of 84 potential candidates for the House of Representatives. He said, “These candidates were qualified according to the party’s vision and program, and we will build on them in the next phase. Our ambition is to have a candidate in every electoral district.”
The head of the “Generation” party emphasized that the ideal candidate must have additional qualities, most notably “a high level of culture and political thought, an exceptional ability to communicate and connect with the masses, as well as clear popularity in his electoral district.”
El-Shebaby cited the recent Senate elections experience, considering it “a rich and valuable experience” that proved the party’s participation in elections consolidates its foundations and makes it more connected to the citizens. He added, “Even if we did not achieve results in the Senate elections, we were present among the people and influenced them. Electoral participation is a golden opportunity to communicate with the masses through open conferences and door-to-door campaigns, which proves that we are a popular party.”
El-Shebaby concluded his statements by confirming that the party seeks to increase or even double the number of its candidates, based on the lesson learned about the necessity of presence in every possible electoral entitlement.
