Amman, August 16 (Petra) – France condemned an Israeli project to build 3,400 settlement units in the occupied West Bank, considering it a “serious violation of international law.” According to AFP, a spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today, Saturday, that “France strongly condemns the Israeli authorities’ decision to approve the E1 settlement project, which includes building more than 3,000 housing units east of Jerusalem.” He added, “Paris believes that completing this settlement project will divide the West Bank into two parts and seriously undermine the two-state solution, which is the only one capable of ensuring lasting peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians.” The ministry confirmed that it “continues to act alongside its European partners to increase pressure on Israel to end colonization, including through imposing new sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for colonization.”
