Qatar Charity, in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), implemented a sustainable project to help alleviate the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by residents of several remote areas in Yemen. The project aims to provide clean water and improve health conditions for more than 10,000 people in remote areas of Al Hudaydah and Raymah governorates. Some areas suffered from almost complete lack of water and sanitation services and the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera. The project included rehabilitating an integrated water system with a solar pumping system, a 100 cubic meter tower tank, and a 1.2-kilometer distribution network in a remote area of Al Hudaydah inhabited by families who used to travel long distances to obtain unsafe water.

Additionally, a 30 cubic meter collection and distribution tank and a 3.5-kilometer distribution network were established in another area in Raymah, where scarcity of clean water posed a daily threat to residents. The project also included the “Batkha” water project with a 30 cubic meter stone tank and a 2.8-kilometer water network in another remote area. The project targeted improving environmental sanitation for hundreds of vulnerable families, including those with cholera patients, malnutrition, disabilities, displaced persons, and female-headed households, providing protection for 311 people. Hundreds of hygiene kits and water purifiers were distributed in several areas. Dozens of people and volunteers were trained to monitor operations, perform maintenance, and ensure the sustainability of these vital services, along with awareness and service sessions for community members.
