The U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, announced the completion of the mobilization of all National Guard forces decided to be deployed in Washington D.C. this week, totaling 800 soldiers. Pentagon spokesman Kingsley Wilson stated on Friday that the mission of the forces is not to arrest people but may temporarily restrict their movement within the restricted or secured area. Around 200 soldiers will simultaneously support federal law enforcement and the Capitol Police. Wilson said, “They will remain there until law and order are restored in the area as decided by President Donald Trump; to be guardians of our great nation’s capital.”
