The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s approval of a plan to build 3,400 new settlement units in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. The organization affirmed that the Israeli colonial occupation and settlement are illegal under international law, United Nations resolutions, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and must be ended immediately. The OIC warned of the dangers of continuing Israeli occupation policies based on aggression, settlement, destruction, displacement, and siege, describing them as systematic crimes that violate the rights of the Palestinian people, undermine the chances of implementing the two-state solution, and entrench annexation plans and attempts to impose alleged Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian land.

The organization called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power, and to hold it accountable and impose sanctions on it under international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
