Turkey has strongly rejected the new Israeli settlement plan, considering it a systematic attempt to divide the West Bank and isolate it from East Jerusalem, and a clear and explicit violation of international law.
In a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was affirmed that this step completely ignores United Nations resolutions and undermines the unity of Palestinian territories, emphasizing that the settlement project strikes at the core foundations of the two-state solution and dissipates hopes for peace.
Ankara reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only way to ensure a just and lasting peace in the region.
