Pakistan has called on the United Nations Security Council to take executive steps to end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and to deploy an international protection force to save the besieged Palestinians in the blockaded sector. The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, stated during an emergency Security Council meeting regarding the occupation government’s approval of a plan to expand the war by controlling Gaza City on Sunday evening, “Any attempt to separate Gaza from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories is a direct attack on the two-state vision.” He emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine and will remain so, expressing confidence that justice is invincible and that the Palestinian people will overcome injustice through their steadfastness. He added that decisions regarding the governance and future of the Palestinian territories lie solely with the Palestinians.
He pointed out that the root cause of this ongoing tragedy is Israel’s prolonged and illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, stating, “The Security Council must urgently demand that Israel refrain from its declared plan to occupy Gaza City.” The Pakistani envoy described the Israeli plan as a step aimed at erasing the Palestinian presence, destroying prospects for peace, and undermining all regional and international efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully. During the meeting, he said, “The Israeli plans violate all UN Security Council resolutions concerning the Middle East and threaten the mass displacement of more than one million Palestinians, a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention.” He continued, “Those who protect Israel from accountability through political cover, military support, or diplomatic protection are complicit and must bear responsibility,” stressing that “Israel’s allies must reconsider their policies because history will judge them harshly.”
