The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Netanyahu spoke with US President Donald Trump regarding Israel’s new plans to attack Gaza. Netanyahu’s office added: “The two parties discussed Israel’s plans to control the remaining Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip to end the war by securing the release of detainees and defeating Hamas,” according to Reuters. Earlier, the Palestinian Hamas movement said that Netanyahu’s statements are a blatant attempt to absolve his entity and army from internationally documented crimes of genocide and starvation. Hamas added that the Israeli Prime Minister is exploiting the detainees’ file to justify aggression despite killing dozens of them and breaking exchange agreements. We were one step away from reaching a prisoner exchange agreement, but Netanyahu withdrew from the last round of negotiations.
Hamas clarified that Netanyahu’s talk about liberating Gaza is a deception hiding his plans for forced displacement, destruction of life essentials, and installing a puppet authority. Hamas confirmed that the only way to preserve the detainees’ lives is to stop the aggression and reach an agreement, not to continue bombing and siege. Hamas pointed out that the occupation deliberately closes crossings, and Netanyahu’s insistence on continuing aid distribution through the inhumane Gaza institution confirms his plans to engineer starvation and use it as a tool for displacement.
