Dr. Ahmed Yehia, Head of the Domestic Media Sector at the General Information Authority, affirmed that the scene of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcoming world leaders today at the launch of the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit is a source of pride for every Egyptian. It confirms Egypt’s responsibility to end the suffering of the people of Gaza and reflects Egypt’s status and pivotal role in leading international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
Yehia told Youm7 that through the historic Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, Egypt was keen to send clear messages regarding the steadfast Egyptian position supporting the Palestinian cause and the political leadership’s insistence on pushing for a just and comprehensive settlement that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He noted that President Abdel Fattah did not hesitate to exert any effort to end the war on Gaza, and his speech was a call for peace from the heart of the Middle East to the entire world, continuing Egypt’s work to stop the Palestinian bloodshed.
He confirmed that today’s summit crowned Egypt’s diplomatic efforts over two years to defend the steadfast Palestinian people on their land, stressing that the Egyptian political leadership seeks through the summit to achieve real gains in both the near and long term, whether related to the reconstruction of Gaza and improving humanitarian conditions or opening a political horizon that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Head of the Domestic Media Sector at the General Information Authority pointed out President El-Sisi’s keenness to embody the region’s voice in his speech at the summit to open a new chapter of regional security and stability and to express the suffering of the Palestinian citizen before the international community. He affirmed that Trump’s participation in the summit added an important dimension to its effectiveness and formed a guarantee for all parties’ commitment to implementing the terms of the agreement to end the war on Gaza to achieve just peace.
