Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), affirmed that football has a soft power capable of contributing to spreading peace and bringing joy to the hearts of children in Gaza and the entire region.

Infantino said in statements on Egypt’s “Channel One” during his participation in the Middle East Peace Summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh that attending this historic event is a great honor for him. He expressed pride in representing football in an agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza and representing an important step towards a more stable future for the region.

The FIFA President added: “It is a happy day full of hope for humanity, and being the representative of football in this peace plan agreement in the Middle East, which will positively affect the world, is a unique honor we greatly appreciate.”

He continued: “We hope and believe that football can make even a small contribution to this peace process and bring joy to the children and all people in Gaza and across the Middle East.”

It is worth noting that Gianni Infantino participated in the summit as the sole representative of the sports community, in an event described by observers as embodying the humanitarian and social role of sports in supporting peace causes worldwide.
