An Israeli official said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering accompanying U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the Gaza summit in Egypt.
Trump visited Israel on Monday before heading to Egypt, where he will co-chair a peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, focusing on the future of the Gaza Strip.
On board the presidential plane, responding to a question about whether he was confident the conflict between Israel and Hamas was over, Trump said, “The war is over. Okay? Do you understand that?” expressing his confidence that the ceasefire will hold.
Netanyahu described the return of hostages held in Gaza as a historic event. He added, “We still face very significant security challenges.”
