The Victory team was crowned champion of the third round of the Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship, hosted by the Chinese city of Zhenzhou, after racer Alec Wikstrom, aboard the “Victory 3” boat, secured first place in the main race held yesterday with participation from top global teams.
Victory achieved a double feat as Sean Torrente, aboard the “Victory 4” boat, finished second, while racer Rusty White from the Sharjah team completed the UAE podium by taking third place. The Abu Dhabi team came in fourth.
With this result, Wikstrom (Victory 3) leads the overall drivers’ standings with 66 points, followed by Torrente (Victory 4) in second place with 59 points, and White (Sharjah) in third with 58 points.
At the team level, Victory strengthened its position at the top of the overall standings with 125 points, ahead of Sharjah in second place with 95 points, Sweden’s team in third with 82 points, and Abu Dhabi in fourth with 50 points.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Harib, CEO of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, expressed his happiness with this achievement, affirming that the double victory reflects the team’s strength and ambition to compete for the world title this season.
He said in press statements: “This victory came at a perfect time and with great morale in the third round; the team’s success in securing first and second places gives us a strong push to continue the outstanding performance, with two rounds remaining that require more focus to maintain these results until the end of the season.”
The fourth round of the championship is scheduled to take place in the Saudi city of Jeddah from November 27 to 29, followed by the fifth round in Sharjah from December 19 to 21.
