Trump told reporters, “I believe President Putin would be great if he could resolve this crisis.”
He added, “I think he will, but we will take action if he doesn’t, and it will end badly for him.”
Trump indicated he might inform Moscow that if the conflict in Ukraine is not resolved, Washington will provide Kyiv with “Tomahawk” missiles.
Last Monday, Trump stated he had “somewhat made a decision” about selling “Tomahawk” missiles to NATO countries to supply Ukraine, noting he wants to know Ukraine’s plans for using these missiles before approving their delivery.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that supplying “Tomahawk” missiles to Ukraine would represent a “completely new and qualitative escalation stage.”
A high-level Ukrainian delegation headed by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Presidential Office Chief Andriy Yermak is scheduled to visit Washington next week to continue discussions on security cooperation and sanctions against Russia.
It is worth noting that Zelensky requested “Tomahawk” missiles during his meeting with Trump on the sidelines of last month’s United Nations General Assembly.
