Jordan’s Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Sami Al-Adwan, and Spain’s Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Adib Rigo, met yesterday Sunday at the Ministry of Youth to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two friendly countries in the youth sector, in the presence of the Spanish Ambassador to Amman, Miguel de Lucas.
During the meeting, Al-Adwan emphasized the deep historical relations and ties between the two friendly countries and reviewed Jordan’s youth experience, noting that youth are a fundamental pillar in the paths of political, economic, and administrative modernization and are a royal priority and a key national priority.
Al-Adwan also pointed to Jordan’s efforts to activate UN Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, which was the result of the efforts of His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II during his presidency of the open debate session at the Security Council on “The Role of Youth in Countering Violent Extremism and Promoting Peace.”
He touched on the national youth survey being conducted by the ministry to identify the training and knowledge needs of Jordanian youth, highlighting the importance of the survey in preparing the National Youth Strategy 2026-2030, which will make youth partners and decision-makers rather than just service recipients. Dr. Al-Adwan also pointed to the ministry’s role in technical empowerment through the establishment of Future Stations, which focus on skills such as artificial intelligence, programming, electronic game development, and English language.
The Minister also highlighted Jordan’s experience in volunteering, referring to the King Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work, launched to promote a culture of voluntary work and make it an institutionalized effort with impact and sustainability, which has succeeded over three cycles.
For her part, Rigo stressed the importance of the visit to Jordan and the Jordanian Ministry of Youth for them, and the importance of exchanging experiences between the two sides in the youth field.
She presented the Spanish youth experience, which focuses on enhancing youth participation in public life and enabling youth to keep pace with digital transformation.
Rigo emphasized the importance of establishing joint youth programs and youth exchange programs between the two sides to benefit from the best experiences and practices in youth work, especially in the fields of digitalization, enhancing youth participation, and the importance of youth exchange programs.
