Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s special envoy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, led a high-level UAE delegation on an official visit to Ukraine aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties and expanding economic and humanitarian cooperation, reflecting the UAE’s comprehensive approach to supporting Ukraine’s stability, recovery, and long-term development.

During the visit, Al Hashimy met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Zelenskyy awarded Al Hashimy the First Class Order of Princess Olga, one of Ukraine’s highest civil honors, in recognition of the UAE’s contributions to supporting the Ukrainian people and its constructive humanitarian cooperation.

Al Hashimy held high-level meetings with Ukrainian officials including Andriy Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office; Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Oleksiy Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture; and Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Defense.

Discussions focused on developing cooperation in trade, investment, digital transformation, infrastructure, agriculture, renewable energy, and other strategic sectors, alongside supporting the ratification and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in February 2025.

During the meetings, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability and humanitarian diplomacy, highlighting its ongoing role in facilitating prisoner exchanges between the parties, which have so far resulted in 17 exchange operations releasing 4,641 prisoners from both sides. The UAE also emphasized its continued efforts to promote dialogue, build trust, and support peace processes.

On the humanitarian front, Al Hashimy met with Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, and announced a $5 million support package through the Olena Zelenska Foundation to fund psychological and social support centers, safe school programs, and foster family care initiatives.

She also visited a UAE-supported foster home, meeting children and beneficiary families, reflecting the direct humanitarian impact of these projects.

Since the crisis began, the UAE has provided humanitarian aid programs to Ukraine including foster homes, relief supplies, ambulances, generators, and essential services benefiting over 1.2 million people, as part of the UAE’s humanitarian support and urgent response to contribute to recovery and long-term development efforts.
