Media personality Nashaat Al-Dihy stated that Cairo is hosting the World Water Week, emphasizing that Egypt is solidifying this global event which addresses all water issues worldwide, not only in Egypt, Africa, or the region.
Al-Dihy added during his program “With Paper and Pen” aired on TeN TV on Sunday evening that the event covers research, crises, and the future of water to prevent water from becoming a cause of conflicts and wars in the future.
He pointed out that President Sisi delivered a speech during this global event containing very clear messages to those concerned, especially the strongest message to Ethiopia and to Abiy Ahmed that Egypt’s patience has run out.
He explained that Egypt has undergone 14 years of negotiations and now it is time to take actions that protect its water interests, as President Sisi stated that Egypt will not allow any harm to its clear water rights.
President Sisi clearly and firmly rejected any unilateral actions that threaten the interests of peoples and development, emphasizing that this is a collective responsibility for all peoples of the region.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed that Egypt will not stand idly by against the irresponsible approach taken by Ethiopia, affirming Egypt’s clear and firm rejection of any unilateral measures taken on the Nile River that ignore customs and international agreements.
He said in a recorded speech at the opening session of the 8th Cairo Water Week: “Egypt chose the path of diplomacy and resorted to international institutions, foremost among them the United Nations. This choice has never been a sign of weakness or retreat; rather, it expresses the strength of position, maturity of vision, and a deep belief that dialogue is the best way, and cooperation is the most effective path, to achieve the interests of all Nile Basin countries without endangering any of them.”
